450+ PBR Textures and the Future
Well, it’s been WAYYYY too long since my last post update on FreePBR.com. Let’s see….
We’ve Hit the 450+ PBR Textures Mark
Well, it looks like we’ve hit the 450+ free PBR textures mark. I’ve tried to incorporate some of your suggestions for content, but apologize to those I haven’t been able to do or haven’t done yet. I always love your feedback, so keep sending it in to me. 🙂
I’m sorry about the erratic posting of new textures the last few months. I’ve sadly had some family health issues to deal with, so I wasn’t able to post new content for you folks as consistently as I wanted. I think we are clear of some of that drama for now, so I hope to pick up the pace and reach that milestone 500 texture mark soon. 🙂
PBR Texture Pack Pricing
For those of you who have been around FreePBR.com long enough have probably noticed some price increases in the download all at once texture pack. The main factor of these increases is the size of hosting these files. With (for example) the Blender version of these pack weighing in at nearly 10gb, much of the pricing for the texture pack factors in hosting costs to be able to handle such gigantic files. That said, I still think this is an insanely good deal. 🙂
Thank you for your work, I love your textures and always use them as a base for my projects. Was well worth the $10. I think your pricing is just fine, if not honestly cheap for the # of textures given. If you feel like you are underselling yourself, don’t be afraid to bump the price a bit. Also, as for ideas, I think besides the current categories, it would be cool to see some more Alien / Funky Organic / Non-organic textures, in the general vein of Half-Life’s Xen. This is a cool video showing how the artists used some things like photos of bugs / creatures to create patterns for their aliens: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLbv-X8GwIE
Kudos!
Thanks so much for the feedback. I’ll look into doing more organic / alien type stuff. That would be fun. 🙂
Sounds cool!
Thanks. 🙂
