I just thought I’d share the site’s milestone of having reached over 100 free PBR texture sets for the community! I’ve received a lot of positive feedback from users in the game dev and 3d community, and look forward to adding more free content in the years to come.
Please feel free to let me know what kinds of textures you would like to see in the future. I currently have a poll asking just that, so take some time and vote what you would like to see me focus on next. Or leave comments here as well.
I thought I’d start posting updates for FreePBR.com to let people know where we intend to go and what we are planning.
We’ve put up a poll to see what Game Engines you guys and gals are primarily using. If you haven’t let us know through the poll what you are using yet, we encourage you to do so. This will help us streamline the PBR creation process down the road. 🙂
So far, it’s clear that a little more than half of the users that come to this site are using UE4.
Coming in second with about 30% of the vote of users, Unity. So with that information in mind, we will be publishing both UE4 sets and Unity. 🙂 Note that Unity texture sets will have a PSD metallness file that will contain the smoothness map in the alpha channel. Just make sure to select this option in Unity to get the smoothness map working. : )
